Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of Bugis local wisdom into science learning as a means to stimulate the cognitive abilities of early childhood children. Bugis local wisdom is understood as the cultural values, practices, and knowledge embedded in the community—such as *sipakatau*, *sipakainge*, *sipakalebbi*, *siri’ na pacce*, and *pappaseng*, as well as community habits regarding interaction with nature. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques that include classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with teachers and heads of early childhood education units (PAUD/RA), and the documentation of instructional materials and children's work. Data analysis involved data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that integrating Bugis local wisdom into science learning can be achieved through activities such as environmental exploration, plant observation, water and soil experiments, natural object classification, cultural storytelling, traditional games, and value-based reflective dialogue. Such learning stimulates children's cognitive abilities—specifically in observing, comparing, classifying, predicting, understanding cause-and-effect relationships, solving simple problems, and communicating observations. Furthermore, integrating Bugis local wisdom strengthens children's cultural identity, rendering science learning more contextual, meaningful, and closely connected to their daily lives.
