Abstract

This service was aimed at improving the understanding and skills of the people in Islamic state-planning of cadaver management through a training program in Ihing Village, Bulo Subdistrict, Polewali Mandar Regency. The problem was the lack of public knowledge about corpse management, as well as the community’s dependence on certain individuals who were considered capable, which created fear and lack of confidence in managing corpses. As a result, community participation in carrying out corpse care was not optimal. The implementation method used a qualitative descriptive approach through observation, interviews, documentation, training, and counseling. The training was conducted using lecture, demonstration, and direct practice methods related to the procedures of bathing, shrouding, praying for, and burying corpses in accordance with Islamic teachings. The activities demonstrated an increase in understanding, skills, and awareness of the importance of corpse management as an obligation of fardhu kifayah. The participants were able to understand the stages of corpse care more systematically and showed readiness to be directly involved in corpse management. The program concluded that participative and collaborative approaches could become effective means of empowering communities in strengthening religious understanding and social responsibility within society.
